Our AmeriCorps* members
 
They dedicate and commit their lives to serve the residents that reside on our affordable housing properties throughout Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California, for six months to a year. Our members work with approximately 20 students daily at our Si Se Puede Learning Centers, providing our families with a safe, fun and caring academic environment. Our members receive leadership skills daily through hands on experience, training, mentoring and support.
 
Become an AmeriCorps Direct Member either as a Teacher Assistant, Site Coordinator or Summer Intern at our Si Se Puede Learning Centers for Out-of-School Time Learning.
 
Teacher Assistant
 
You will serve a six month contract term. You will assist with homework and implement enrichment activities for students in grades K-5th during after school hours. We are looking for energetic and reliable individuals who have experience working with youth. You will provide homework and tutoring assistance in all subject areas, including Math, Science and English, as well as implement enrichment activities from adopted curriculum.
 
Site Coordinator
 
You will serve a one year contract term. Coordinate and implement our various community programs, i.e. Computer classes, Health Education classes, parent education classes, GED prep, vocational training, assist in our Si Se Puede Learning Center's Out-of-School Time program, assist with volunteer recruitment, and community partnerships. If you believe in the power to change lives through empowering individuals and providing needed skills to families from low-income backgrounds, we want to hear from you!
 
Summer Intern
 
You will serve a 10 week contract term. Assisting our Lead Teachers in implementing our summer academic activities for students in grades K-5th.
 
We are looking for energetic and reliable individuals who have experience working with youth. You will provide assistance in all subject areas, including English Language Arts, Writing and Math, as well as implement enrichment activities from adopted curriculum.
 
Benefits
 
Our program enables our AmeriCorps* members to develop a plan that helps them gain essential leadership skills required for roles across a wide spectrum, from a youth environment to the corporate world. These characteristics include: taking responsibility, gaining focus, developing life purpose, starting action immediately and developing effective and achievable goals and dreams.
 
 
A modest stipend is available to those who commit to service. Those who complete their term of service will be eligible to receive an educational award.
 
Hours
 
The Out-of School Time Programs commence at different times, depending on when you serve your term. If you work in the afterschool program, then your hours would be Monday through Friday for approximately 3 hours each day. If you choose to serve during our Summer Day Camp program, then your hours will vary from location.
